Competition between ICL and IPL good for sports goods industry
Now, with the formation of Indian Cricket League and its rival faction, Indian Premier League, it seems this rivalry is going to benefit the Indian sports goods industry a lot. Initially, it’s only those sports goods manufacturers who are into the business of cricket equipment are gonna reap rich benefits from this rivalry between ZEE boss Subhash Chandra’s IPL and BCCI’s ICL.
Already both these camps have roped in star players of different cricket playing nations and ICL even had its first tournament successfully concluded. With both these camps, the whole sports scenario of our country is gonna change whether it’s the cricketers, sports infrastructure, cricket, and last not but the least, it will the sporting goods industry who will have the last laugh as for everything one has to come to these sports goods manufacturers and sports goods suppliers to buy sports goods.
So, if ICL, who has been denied cricket stadiums managed by BCCI, wants to have world class matches then they will look for such cricket stadiums and this will drive many departments who have cricket stadiums to give a facelift to their existing stadiums, which are in deplorable condition, to encash the demand by letting out their stadiums to ICL. And this will make the owners go to sporting goods industry to buy various sports equipment to give fresh lease of life to their stadiums.
That’s one aspect. The other aspect is that with the bidding of IPL teams there has been tremendous interest in cricket. This interest in cricket will gonna spur the sale of cricket sporting goods in our country.
I see a bright a future for those who are into sports goods business as the craze of owning sports clubs gain momentum. I am sure soon the Indian Hockey federation who started the Premier League Hockey will also sell the various teams to the highest bidders who will use those clubs as an investment and soon sports goods manufactures of hockey equipment will also have bombastic business.
Wat u say guys?
